Hogar de Cristo was founded in Chile 80 years ago (Oct 1944) by Alberto Hurtado SJ to provide services, hope, and dignity to the disadvantaged in Chilean society. It also includes assistance/help/embracing many poor immigrants who annually pursue better Chilean opportunities. Hogar de Cristo is one of Chile’s largest and most active charities, with over 250 programs and over 42,000 users annually, covering eight thematic areas throughout Chile.

Our vision is inspired from the last words of Fr Alberto Hurtado sj, who shortly before dying expressed his wish for the establishment of a country built on justice, respect and unity.
CASEN 2020 (Caracterización Socioeconómica Nacional). It’s a National Chilean Government survey carried out every other year to measure socioeconomic conditions of the country’s households in terms of access to health, education, jobs and housing services, among other indexes.
