The Hogar de Cristo Foundation is an organization that welcomes the poorest of the poor with love and dignity and expands their opportunities for a better life. It enthusiastically supports the community in its responsibility to those discriminated against in our society. Inspired by the spirit of Alberto Hurtado SJ, it’s a transparent, efficient, and effective organization that promotes a culture of respect, justice, and unity.
Hogar de Cristo works 24 hours per day, seven days a week. The foundation has over 81 years of experience transforming the lives of vulnerable individuals and integrating them fully into society.
Hogar de Cristo USA Inc. began operations in the United States on June 6, 2006. With Miami, FL offices, the 501(c) (3) foundation promotes solidarity, advocates, and raises funds to help Hogar de Cristo finance programs in Chile. The Hogar de Cristo has over 220 sites or total service units to assist more than 27,000 users yearly. It is one of Chile’s most extensive and active charities, founded by Alberto Hurtado on October 19, 1944.

Over 30 years of Hogar de Cristo transforming vulnerable lives through education.
Nearly 200,000 youths aged 12 to 21 are currently out of the system in Chile. Many want to consider enrolling but lack the means.
Around 40,000 students nationwide dropped out of school in 2024. For many, affording basic items is not possible, and lacking them makes it harder to encourage return to school.
