J. PAUL RAINES,

Today March 4th, 2023, marks his fifth anniversary. The time has passed surprisingly quickly.

We are deeply grateful for his commitment and generosity, especially to the more disadvantaged. We’ll always remember his caring, humble, and giving nature, always willing to help others.

His successful professional life and community leadership are well-known, leaving us a tremendous inspirational legacy—an exceptional visionary and wise man, compassionate. Among others, Paul was for around seven years a brilliant GameStop CEO and a longtime Home Depot executive. But first and foremost, he was a man who loved and consecrated his entire life to his family.

He profoundly believed in the Power of Education to transform lives for generations, especially those more disadvantaged, as a critical tool to break cycles of poverty. In this way, jointly with his lovely wife, Claudia Larrondo, both embarked on an epic project in Chile, supporting the SUMATE Schools model of education from Hogar de Cristo to offer an opportunity to educate vulnerable children and youth out of school. Since 2013 up to present its mission and commitment has impacted hundreds of children and adolescents. It’s a depth intervention set up to make students entirely for retrieving their educational trajectories, especially those who have lived the frustrating experience of education exclusion, often labeled as troubled youths. Most come from highly vulnerable homes with long histories of poverty and deprivation.

Thank you,
Our appreciation and gratitude,
