Alberto Hurtado SJ,
The Month of Solidarity, Chile

And so this journey began,

It was Oct 1944, a rainy and cold night in Santiago, when Alberto Hurtado unexpectedly encountered a homeless, sick, shivering with a high fever. The accidental meeting brought him to tears because there was nowhere to bring that person in urgent need. The incident would lay the foundations for the Hogar de Cristo.

Those who better knew about him were the children they rescued searching on the streets, riverbeds, or under the bridges. It’s an inspirational José Palma’s testimony when a kid was rescued-saved by Alberto Hurtado.

Hogar de Cristo, over 78 years of transforming lives and always aspiring to do good but doing well!
