Children and adolescents’ rights protections

Main goals through our programs: Promote, protect, and restore the rights of deprived or abused children and adolescents throughout Chile.

Laura Vicuña. It’s a protected Foster Residence in Antofagasta Chile, collaborating with Sename: 17 teen girls from 13 to 18 and 12 specialized staff. A tough job for caregivers, social workers, and psychologists. “We become temporary mothers and fathers, they say”, because complex trauma histories of childhood emotional neglect, physical abuse, and abandonment; many have been sexually assaulted. It has long-term consequences, as well as short-term, almost immediate ones. The healing from childhood and teens traumas it’s a 24/7 job for the professionals of Laura Vicuña Residence where they put their best efforts and heart. It’s not impossible but it is just hard. ¡¡Most important, girls want to start over!!
