Observatory for Educational Trajectories, Chile

What’s this?

A joint effort from the civil society, Sumate/Hogar de Cristo, Universities of Chile, Católica de Chile, UCV, and UAH organized to influence public policies development and practices to protect the continuity of Educational Trajectories for Children/Youth. Also, to make follow-up and analysis to evaluate initiatives that address educational exclusion, focusing on their right to an integral education, serving children/youth who’ve been expelled or are at high risk of dropping out of schools.

Currently, around 186,000 are out-of-school in Chile, where almost 50% are women (double down exclusion). We could expect more dropouts along the way if we cannot take corrective integrated actions on time.

The most recent data from the Ministry of Education show that around 67% of students complete their school education on time (12 years). The remaining 33% present school lags that become a growing gap because of grade repetition and/or school exclusion.
