They’re oases for children and their families.
The lack of accessible, affordable, and reliable childcare services drastically impacts mothers in low-income communities. It’s a primary barrier for those looking to enter the workforce and enhance their family’s economic well-being.
This reality is particularly true for single mothers or women who often serve as the head of the household, earning an income while caring for children.
Hogar de Cristo has over 20 years of experience working through 35 top-notch childcare centers in highly vulnerable areas throughout Chile. Over 8,300 children (plus their families) participate in our childcare centers, where they receive advanced educational methodologies. Seven out of ten children advance in their developmental levels.
There are abundant international experiences of how early childhood education impacts long-term social, cognitive, emotional, and physical development, particularly during the first five years of life. Indeed, it is especially critical in highly vulnerable child populations.
