August 1st marks the starting point of the MONTH OF SOLIDARITY IN CHILE, which honors the life and legacy of Alberto Hurtado SJ and renews our commitment to social justice in overcoming poverty and social exclusion.

Also, August 18th is declared the Day of Solidarity. A date set to commemorate Fr. Hurtado’s death occurred in 1952. His work as an Apostol of social justice has left a lasting impact in an astonishing array of activities and fields, inspiring us to continue his legacy.

Thus, Solidarity Month is an invitation to return to the source of inspiration that fueled and consecrated his whole life: Social justice and the deep meaning of people experiencing poverty—well incarnated in his most significant and best-known apostolic work, Hogar de Cristo.

On October 19th, 2024, the organization will celebrate its 80th anniversary.

Please donate to our causes that save and transform lives: Digital Money Collection to benefit people experiencing homelessness. There are over 40,000 in Chile where women in this condition have special attention because most of them suffer abuse and exploitation. Together, we face this winter.!
