Curanilahue, Chile.
As in any emergency, Hogar de Cristo is mobilizing its efforts to help those more vulnerable and severely affected by the recent weather frontal system. The forecast shows more rain coming in a few days. Curanilahue has been declared “ground zero” overflooded after almost 14 inches of rain in a short period.

So far, 1,200 homes have flooded – nearly one out of two affected in the BioBio region. Curanilahue is around 62 miles from Concepcion City. The Hogar de Cristo has launched a campaign to raise funds to aid victims urgently. It will provide clearing kits (wellies, work gloves, wheelbarrow, shovel, broom, and rake) and cleaning kits (dishwasher, garbage bags, bleach, mop, matches, candles, sponges, packing boxes and mopping liquid). These elements will be arriving soon in the impacted zone.
