Challenges to overcoming poverty in Chile. 2026-2030.

As a leader and a core part of civil society in Chile, Hogar de Cristo works alongside the State on public policy, taking proactive action and often anticipating the State’s efforts with innovative, high-quality solutions to overcome poverty and social exclusion. The work is backing efficient models that deliver consistent results and experiences, with replication and scaling by the State.

However, there is still a long way to go because those living in severe poverty (the hardest poverty), in other words, those affected by both monetary and multidimensional poverty, continue to number nearly 1.2 million people in Chile (6.1%), marked by profound deprivation in income, housing, health, and education, along with long histories of inequality and a lack of social connections. Hogar de Cristo focuses on hard work and prioritizes directing its major efforts precisely toward that population. As a reference, multidimensional poverty (based on CASEN 2024) is nearly 3.5 million (17.7%).
