The other MBA!

The goal of EMPLEA-Hogar de Cristo is to strengthen the skills and competencies of the most disadvantaged groups, excluded from the labor market in Chile, most of them with long stories of unemployment and deprivations.

Rita quit her job at 21 to raise her premature son; when she wanted to go back to the labor market, it was frustrating to get a newly available position. According to the government, at least 700,000 women are out of the labor market in Chile. Still, there is a long way to go – a matter of public policy for women to be implemented urgently.

Many women have skills, talents, and invaluable knowledge -a kind of master’s degree not listed in the Resumes- that gives them life through their daily efforts to pursue better opportunities for the family. They need another chance, the tools, and accompaniment that EMPLEA from Hogar de Cristo can provide.

These women’s profiles are what EMPLEA wants to value and appreciate, and they have coined what is called “The other MBA” by its analogy to the Spanish acronym -“Mujeres que Buscan Avanzar.” In other words, women who pursue overcoming obstacles keep going and achieve goals to become part of the labor market and carry out their life projects.
